4. Sign up for reminders. Peel offers free collection reminders by text, email, or phone call from the calendar page.
5. Re-check on holiday weeks. Your pickup day may move due to a holiday, so check the address calendar before setting materials out.

Mississauga Trash Pickup Schedule: What Runs When

For most curbside households in Mississauga, the core pattern is simple once you know it: garbage is every other week, organics are every week, yard waste runs seasonally, and bulky items are collected on the same schedule as garbage. Recycling continues on its regular schedule even though responsibility changed in 2026.

Peel’s set-out guidance also says bins should be placed at the curb on a flat spot, about 1 metre away from the road or curb, with excess bagged waste placed on the ground about 1 metre away from a bin.

Mississauga Garbage Rules: Bin Sizes, Bag Limits, and Extra Garbage

Mississauga households that use bins can choose from three garbage-cart sizes, while some homes still use bag-based garbage collection. Peel says its garbage bins come in small, medium, and large sizes, and all residents use one 100-litre organics bin.

If your area still uses bag-based garbage collection, Peel says you can place a total of 4 garbage bags or 4 full containers on the curb on your garbage day.
