Chandler Bulk Trash Pickup, Garbage Schedule & Recycling Guide 2026
This is built like a Chandler resident’s practical checklist: how to schedule bulk pickup, how many free bulk or disposal visits you get, what items the City accepts, what gets rejected, when trash and recycling run, where to take HHW, and what to do if a truck skips your cart.
Enter your ZIP code below — we'll take you straight to your city's official schedule. No searching, no confusion.
Chandler bulk trash pickup garbage schedule is appointment-based. City solid waste customers can schedule curbside bulk collection by calling 480-782-3510 or using the official Bulk Request Form. Online scheduling requires 7 to 14 days of advance notice.
A combination of the first four curbside bulk collections and/or Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center trash disposal visits per calendar year are free for Chandler ratepayers. After that, the City lists fees such as $43 per bulk pickup, $14 for up to 400 lbs. at the RSWCC, and $70 per ton for loads more than 400 lbs. Certain coolant appliances have a $15 per unit fee.
Chandler Bulk Trash Pickup Schedule — How to Book a Curbside Bulk Collection
Chandler bulk pickup is not the same as regular weekly trash service. You must schedule it first. The City says ratepayers, or authorized users by the ratepayer, may schedule a bulk collection by calling Solid Waste Services or by completing the online Bulk Request Form.
The detail that trips up most residents is timing. Online scheduling needs 7 to 14 days of advance notice. If you are moving out this weekend, replacing furniture tomorrow, or trimming trees today, do not drag the pile to the curb first and hope the next trash truck takes it. Book first, then build the pile around the confirmed collection date.
Confirm you are a City of Chandler solid waste customer
Only residents paying for City-provided solid waste services can schedule curbside bulk collections. If your property is not serviced by the City, contact the company listed on your trash container.
Schedule online or call
Use the official bulk request page or call 480-782-3510. If you use the form, expect a confirmation email from the City’s Solid Waste customer service address.
List the exact materials
Chandler asks for the items you want collected because different trucks are scheduled based on material type. Separate metal, recyclable bulk and trash bulk when required.
Place items at the front curb, not the alley
Chandler says bulk items are not collected in the alley. Place them at the end of your front property within 4 feet of the curb and/or sidewalk unless your area has a special right-of-way requirement.
Official booking: Use Chandler’s bulk scheduling page before placing furniture, yard debris, appliances, cardboard or household bulk at the curb.
Book Bulk PickupChandler Bulk Trash Pickup Accepted Items — Furniture, Yard Waste, Appliances, Electronics and Cardboard
Chandler separates bulk into material types. That matters because your scheduled pickup may involve different trucks. If you mix everything into one messy pile, you make it harder for crews to pick up and easier for the pile to be rejected.
- Excess cardboard, emptied and flattened.
- Disassembled metal items such as patio furniture, grills and playground equipment.
- Large and small appliances, including water heaters, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, toaster ovens, microwaves and window AC units.
- Flat-screen electronics such as LED, LCD and plasma TVs, printers, stereos and flat-screen computer monitors.
- Metal and non-metal large items separated when required.
- Tree trimmings and yard clippings prepared within size rules.
- Broken, non-repairable furniture.
- Broken, non-repairable toys.
- Household trash and textiles that do not fit regular containers.
- CRT, console and projection TVs, plus CRT computer monitors.
Coolant appliance fee: Chandler lists a $15 per unit fee for refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers, water coolers, air conditioners and other appliances that use coolant. The fee is applied to the Chandler utility bill.
Items Not Accepted in Chandler Bulk Pickup
Do not include food, diapers, hygiene products, pet waste, liquids, hazardous material, medical waste, tires, auto parts, sheetrock, drywall, wood paneling, cinder blocks, bricks, stone countertops, tile, flooring, concrete, pavers, rock, gravel, dirt or sod. These are common reasons residents think “the City missed my bulk pickup” when the real issue is that the material was not eligible.
Chandler Bulk Pickup Rules — Size Limits, Front Curb Placement, Cancellations and Rejected Piles
Bulk collection rules are strict because crews need safe access and the right equipment. Chandler’s maximum bulk size is 4 feet wide by 4 feet high by 16 feet long, approximately the size of two standard pickup truck loads. Exceeding the limit may result in the bulk not being collected.
- Place bulk within 4 feet of the curb and/or sidewalk at the front of the property.
- Do not put bulk in the alley.
- Keep individual bulk items under 50 lbs. when applicable.
- Flatten and stack cardboard boxes.
- Cut carpet into sections no larger than 5 feet by 5 feet and lay flat.
- Remove propane tanks from BBQ grills.
- Tree and yard trimmings must not exceed 5 feet in length or 5 inches in diameter.
- Tree trunks must be cut and not exceed 3 feet in length or 5 inches in diameter.
- Palm fronds must be cut into 5-foot lengths and stacked in the same direction.
- Palm tree husks must be securely bagged or boxed.
- Cactus must be securely boxed in a box not greater than 3 feet by 3 feet.
Change or cancel by phone: Chandler says cancellations, postponements or modifications must be made by speaking with a customer service representative at 480-782-3510 before 5 p.m. on the business day before the scheduled collection date. Requests for changes cannot be made by email, online forms or voicemail messages.
Chandler Trash and Recycling Schedule — Find Your Collection Day by Area, InfoMap or Recycle Coach
Regular Chandler trash and recycling are separate from bulk pickup. The City’s map shows collection days for homes that receive solid waste services from the City. You can also use the free Recycle Coach app or the City’s InfoMap to confirm your service address. Alley trash collection may happen on a different day than the map shows, so call 480-782-3510 when alley service looks different.
| Collection Area | Trash Day | Recycling Day | General Location Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pink Area | Monday | Wednesday | North of Pecos Road to the city limits just north of Ray Road; west of Dobson Road to western city limits. |
| Yellow Area | Tuesday | Thursday | North of Chandler Boulevard to northern city limits, mostly west of Dobson Road, plus a smaller area between Warner Road, the canal, Price and Dobson. |
| Orange Area | Friday | Tuesday | South of Chandler Boulevard to north of Queen Creek Road, east of Dobson Road, plus areas between Pecos, Queen Creek, Price and Dobson. |
| Green Area | Wednesday | Friday | South of Queen Creek Road to north of Chandler Heights Road; Price Road to eastern city limits. |
| Blue Area | Thursday | Monday | South of Chandler Heights Road to Hunt Highway; Alma School Road to eastern city limits. |
- Trash and recycling are collected between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Containers must be at the curb before 6 a.m. on collection day.
- Containers cannot be placed out before 6 p.m. the day before collection.
- Remove containers from the curb by 9 a.m. the day after collection.
- Place the container in the street with wheels against the curb.
- Do not block the sidewalk.
- Keep containers 3 feet from other containers.
- Keep containers 6 feet from parked vehicles, light poles and structures.
- All items must be inside the container with the lid closed.
Local timing tip: Do not wait until 5:59 a.m. if you are on an early route. Collection time can vary because of truckload capacity, traffic, weather, route changes, construction and utility work. Put carts out after 6 p.m. the night before if your household struggles with early mornings.
Chandler 2026 Holiday Trash Schedule — Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Are the Main Pickup Changes
Most Chandler holidays do not stop regular trash and recycling collection. The City states that the only three holidays that impact collection are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. For 2026, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the major same-year changes shown on the City schedule.
| Holiday | 2026 Date | Day | Trash / Recycling Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Martin Luther King, Jr./Civil Rights Day | January 19, 2026 | Monday | Collected. |
| Presidents Day | February 16, 2026 | Monday | Collected. |
| Memorial Day | May 25, 2026 | Monday | Collected. |
| Juneteenth | June 19, 2026 | Friday | Collected. |
| Independence Day Observed | July 3, 2026 | Friday | Collected. |
| Labor Day | September 7, 2026 | Monday | Collected. |
| Veterans Day | November 11, 2026 | Wednesday | Collected. |
| Thanksgiving | November 26, 2026 | Thursday | No collection on Thanksgiving. Thursday moves to Friday, and Friday moves to Saturday. |
| Christmas Day | December 25, 2026 | Friday | No collection on Christmas Day. The City schedule says regular Friday collection moves to Saturday. |
| New Year’s Day | January 1, 2027 | Friday | No collection on New Year’s Day. Thursday moves to Friday, and Friday moves to Saturday. |
Holiday-week mistake to avoid: Do not copy a Phoenix, Mesa or Tempe holiday calendar for Chandler. Chandler’s 2026 schedule is very specific: many holidays are collected normally, while Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day create the major collection changes.
Chandler Recycling Schedule — Blue Container Rules, Accepted Items and Common Contamination Mistakes
Chandler uses the blue container for accepted recyclables. The City says to place clean and dry recyclables loose in the blue container with the lid closed. Do not bag recyclables. Plastic bags, plastic packing pillows and plastic wrap are not accepted curbside even if they are marked recyclable.
- Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phone books and non-padded mail.
- Plain or cardstock paper, paper sacks and paperback books.
- Empty, flat cardboard boxes and common paperboard boxes.
- Plastic bottles, jugs and food containers.
- Aluminum cans, clean foil, pie pans, steel cans and empty aerosol cans.
- Beverage bottles and food jars made of glass.
- No bagged recyclables.
- No items smaller than 2 inches in length or diameter.
- No shredded paper, gift wrap, tissue paper or paper plates.
- No dirty or greasy cardboard.
- No plastic bags, plastic wrap, packing pillows or foam containers.
- No mirrors, windows, drinking glasses, plates or lids from glass containers.
Best apartment-style habit for any home: Keep a small indoor recycling bin near the kitchen, but empty it loose into the blue container. If you use a plastic bag indoors, dump the recyclables out and throw the bag in the trash or take it to an accepted store drop-off program.

Chandler Household Hazardous Waste Disposal — Appointment Rules for Paint, Chemicals and Propane Tanks
Household hazardous waste does not belong in a trash container, bulk pile, blue recycling container or curbside load. Chandler offers HHW collection at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, but scheduled appointments are required.
- Chandler residents paying for City-provided solid waste services.
- Residents living in Chandler apartments, townhomes or multi-family units.
- Material must come from the Chandler residence shown on the utility bill.
- Residents from that address must drop off the material.
- Residents outside Chandler city limits.
- County islands and Sun Lakes residents.
- Businesses and home-based businesses.
- Nonprofit organizations.
- Contractors or people performing work for residents.
Appointment required: Call Solid Waste customer service at 480-782-3510, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to schedule HHW drop-off. Do not place paint, chemicals, propane tanks or similar material in a bulk pile.
Chandler Waste Video Guide — Official Video Check
No official relevant embeddable video was found from the City of Chandler Solid Waste Services, an official Chandler waste page, or an official City YouTube channel at the time of writing. Because no verified official video was found, this article does not embed a random YouTube or creator video.
Best for: Chandler homeowners, new residents, bulk-pickup users, RSWCC visitors and recycling users should rely on the official written City links in this article until Chandler publishes or links a relevant official video.
If the City later publishes an official bulk pickup, recycling, RSWCC, HHW or schedule lookup video, it should be added here using the official embed URL only. For exact dates, fees, appointment rules and service alerts, residents should still verify through City of Chandler links.
New to Chandler Trash Service — Start Service, Containers, Apartments and County-Island Confusion
If you are new to Chandler, do not assume every address inside a Chandler mailing area receives City trash service. The official schedule page says properties not serviced by the City should contact the company listed on the trash container. If you are in a county island, apartment complex, HOA arrangement or commercial property, service may be different.
- Call Utility Billing at 480-782-2280 to start solid waste service as a new resident.
- Use the City map, InfoMap or Recycle Coach for trash and recycling days.
- Call 480-782-3510 for damaged containers, missed collection or service questions.
- Schedule bulk pickup before placing large items outside.
- Check the company name on your trash container.
- Ask your HOA, landlord or property manager for collection rules.
- Do not use City bulk pickup unless you pay for City-provided solid waste service.
- Verify whether your address can use the RSWCC or HHW facility before driving there.
Container issue: If your container is damaged or has a repair notice stapled to it, call 480-782-3510. Online container repair scheduling may require 7 to 14 days of advance notice.
