San Antonio holiday trash garbage pickup schedule for the official FY2025-2026 page shows two main 2026 delay weeks: New Year’s Week and Martin Luther King Jr. Week. New Year’s Week moves Thursday collection to Friday and Friday collection to Saturday. MLK Week moves Monday through Friday collections one day later, ending with Friday routes on Saturday.
For April 3, Fiesta San Jacinto Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day observed on July 3, and Labor Day, the official FY2025-2026 holiday table says No changes for curbside garbage, recycling and organics. Late-2026 Thanksgiving and Christmas are part of the next fiscal-year holiday schedule, which the City says is posted by early November.
San Antonio Holiday Trash Schedule 2026 — Official FY2025-2026 Curbside Changes
The City of San Antonio posts curbside holiday schedules by fiscal year, not by full calendar year. The FY2025-2026 holiday table covers October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. That is why this page can safely cover January through September 2026 from the official table, while Thanksgiving and Christmas 2026 should be rechecked when the FY2026-2027 schedule is posted.
| Holiday / Week | 2026 Date | Official Curbside Change | What Residents Should Do |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Year’s Week | January 1-3, 2026 | Thursday collection slides to Friday; Friday collection slides to Saturday. | Thursday and Friday homes should roll carts out one day later. |
| Martin Luther King Jr. Week | January 19-24, 2026 | Monday slides to Tuesday; Tuesday to Wednesday; Wednesday to Thursday; Thursday to Friday; Friday to Saturday. | All weekday routes move one day later that week. |

| Independence Day Observed | July 3, 2026 | No changes. | Use normal cart day. |

Important: “No changes” applies to curbside garbage, recycling and organics on the official holiday table. Brush collection, bulky drop-off centers, the Bitters Brush site and Household Hazardous Waste sites may still close or follow special holiday hours.
How San Antonio Holiday Delays Work — One-Day Slide vs Normal Collection
San Antonio holiday collection is not the same for every City holiday. Some holidays move the entire week after the holiday. Some holidays have no cart delay. The only safe rule is to check the official “My Collection Day” holiday table and your address.
- Monday collection becomes Tuesday.
- Tuesday collection becomes Wednesday.
- Wednesday collection becomes Thursday.
- Thursday collection becomes Friday.
- Friday collection becomes Saturday.
- Memorial Day 2026 shows no cart collection changes.
- Juneteenth 2026 shows no cart collection changes.
- Labor Day 2026 shows no cart collection changes.
- But drop-off centers or brush sites may still be closed.
Best resident shortcut: search your address before every major holiday week. The address tool also shows your normal garbage, recycling, organics, brush and bulky information.
Find My Collection DaySan Antonio Holiday Cart Set-Out Rules — 7 AM, Wheels at Curb, 3 Feet Apart
Holiday weeks make cart mistakes more common because residents are traveling, hosting family, cleaning after parties or putting out extra bags. The City’s cart rules still apply during delay weeks.
- Set the correct cart at the curb by 7:00 AM.
- Place wheels touching the curb, unless you have alley collection.
- Keep carts at least 3 feet apart.
- Keep carts away from parked cars, poles, fences and low tree limbs.
- Make sure the lid closes completely.
- Put carts away by 10:00 PM on collection day.
- Do not put carts in the lawn, driveway or sidewalk.
- Do not overstuff carts so material jams inside.
- Do not place extra bags on top of or beside carts.
- Do not put ashes, coals or embers in any cart.
- Do not report a missed collection before 5:00 PM.
Holiday overflow warning: Extra party trash beside the cart is not automatically collected. If you need extra brown-cart service, the City lists out-of-cycle garbage collection as a separate request with a fee and annual limits.
Brush and Bulky Pickup During San Antonio Holidays — Door Hanger Rule Comes First
Curbside brush and bulky item collection is separate from weekly cart collection. The City provides curbside brush and bulky collection twice per year and tells residents not to set out brush or bulky items until they receive a door hanger.
- Use Find My Collection Day for an estimated timeframe.
- Wait for the door hanger before setting items out.
- Door hangers are generally provided 7-10 days before collection week.
- Call 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000 if you have questions or did not receive a door hanger.
- Do not mix brush and bulky items with regular cart holiday rules.
- A normal garbage holiday schedule does not automatically mean brush will run.
- Some holiday news releases say no curbside brush collection on the holiday.
- Drop-off centers may close even when carts still run normally.
- Check the specific holiday release if your brush week falls near a holiday.
Brush/bulky rule: do not set items out just because it is a holiday cleaning weekend. Wait for the door hanger or verify your address first.
Curbside Brush & BulkySan Antonio Bulky Waste Drop-Off and HHW Centers — Holiday Closures Can Differ From Cart Pickup
Holiday confusion often happens because carts may still be collected, but drop-off locations may close. San Antonio has four bulky waste collection centers and Household Hazardous Waste drop-off options for residential customers who pay the City’s environmental fee through CPS Energy.
- A recent copy of your CPS Energy bill.
- A photo ID.
- Proof that you pay the City environmental fee.
- Accepted bulky material only.
- Bulky centers may close on City holidays.
- The Bitters Brush site may close even when carts run normally.
- Household Hazardous Waste locations may close on holiday dates.
- Always check the specific holiday service schedule before driving.
Good holiday-week plan: if you are cleaning after a party, moving, or trimming trees, separate cart trash, recyclables, organics, brush, bulky items and HHW. Each stream has a different rule and sometimes a different holiday closure.
San Antonio Holiday Waste Video Guide — Official Video Check
No official 2026 holiday-specific San Antonio Solid Waste video was found from the City or Solid Waste department at the time of writing. Because the article is about exact 2026 holiday pickup changes, this page does not embed an old or random YouTube video that could mislead residents.
Best for: residents checking holiday-week pickup should use the official City holiday collection table, Find My Collection Day tool, and current City news releases instead of relying on older videos or social clips.
If the City publishes a current official video for the FY2026-2027 holiday schedule, it should be added here using only the official embed URL.
Missed Trash Pickup After a San Antonio Holiday — When to Report It
During delay weeks, a collection that looks missed may simply be scheduled one day later. During normal-service holidays, trucks may still run, but pickup times can vary. The City says missed cart collections should not be reported until after 5:00 PM.
Check the holiday table first
If it is New Year’s Week or MLK Week, your day may have moved. Confirm before submitting a missed pickup request.
Check your cart setup
Wrong cart, blocked cart, lid open, extra bags, sidewalk placement or low-hanging limbs can create service issues.
Wait until after 5 PM
Drivers may still be completing routes. Reporting before the end of the route can create unnecessary duplicate requests.
Report online or call
Use 3-1-1 or call 210-207-6000. Keep your address, cart type and holiday week details ready.
Does This San Antonio Holiday Schedule Apply to Apartments, HOAs and Private Haulers?
This guide is for City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management residential customers. If you live in an apartment, condo, HOA-managed community, gated development, commercial property, or outside San Antonio city limits, your holiday pickup may be handled by a private hauler or property manager.
- Who collects garbage for this property?
- Does the private hauler observe New Year’s, Thanksgiving or Christmas?
- Are dumpsters serviced on City holidays?
- Are move-out items allowed near the dumpster?
- Where do residents take bulky or hazardous items?
- Private haulers may use different delay rules.
- County or suburban service may not follow SA.gov.
- Some properties use commercial dumpsters, not City carts.
- Do not place brush or bulky items out unless your property confirms it.
