Granger Trash Pickup & Garbage Schedule 2026

Pickup day

Use Granger’s Schedule & Guidelines page or Customer Portal. Many community pages also have local recycling calendars and special instructions.

Holiday delays

Granger’s 2026 holiday table shows closed days and when Monday-Friday collections shift after a holiday.

Cart and extras

Regular Curby Cart service is a weekly trash option. Other cart sizes, extra bags, recycling and yard waste vary by service type and area.

Use the official schedule page when…

• You need the next pickup day for your address.
• You need your every-other-week recycling calendar.
• You are not sure whether a holiday delays your route.
• Your community has its own Granger customer guide.
• You need waste acceptance or collection guidelines.

Use the Customer Portal when…

• You want to view your collection schedule.
• You want to pay your bill.
• You need to request service.
• You need to request or manage a bulk pickup.
• You need account-specific messages or service updates.

Do this on pickup day

• Place carts within 3 feet of the street.
• Face the cart forward.
• Keep wheels and handles away from the street.
• Leave at least 2 feet of clearance on both sides.
• Keep carts away from poles, mailboxes, parked vehicles and recycling containers.
• Keep the cart unobstructed and accessible from the street.

Do not do this

• Do not load carts over 200 pounds.
• Do not leave carts or bags at the curb for longer than 24 hours.
• Do not use personal trash containers instead of Granger carts.
• Do not block carts with snowbanks, vehicles or yard objects.
• Do not put bags heavier than 30 pounds outside the cart.
• Do not put furniture or appliances out without scheduling or checking service status.

Accepted recycling basics

• Cardboard and boxboard.
• Mixed paper.
• Metal cans and foil.
• Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs and containers.
• Glass in areas where Granger accepts it, including the greater Lansing area.
• Place recyclables loose, unbagged and unsorted in the Curby Recycler.

Recycling prep rules

• Rinse containers clean.
• Break down and flatten boxboard and cardboard.
• Do not bag recyclables.
• Check your area guide before assuming glass is accepted.
• Keep the recycling cart placed correctly with proper clearance.
• Use Granger’s recycling calendar if your schedule is every other week.

Accepted yard waste items

• Leaves.
• Grass clippings.
• Brush.
• Tree trimmings.
• Yard waste in Granger yard waste carts.
• Yard waste in brown paper yard waste bags.

Prep rules to check

• Brush and tree trimmings should be tied with twine.
• Bundles should be no longer than 4 feet.
• Branches should be less than 2 inches in diameter.
• Do not include trash.
• Do not include animal waste.
• Do not include sod, plastic or twine mixed into yard waste bags.

Common bulk situations

• Furniture.
• Large household items.
• Appliances.
• Move-out debris that does not fit in the cart.
• Large cleanup items.
• Items better handled by self-haul disposal centers.

Before putting it out

• Check if bulk collection is available for your account.
• Prepay and schedule pickup when required.
• Do not place items out without current guidance.
• Do not use bulk service for construction or remodeling debris unless allowed.
• If bulk is suspended, use a Granger disposal center where appropriate.
• For small appliances, check if they fit in the cart with lid closed.

Check before reporting

• Was it your correct pickup day?
• Was it your correct recycling week?
• Was there a holiday or weather delay?
• Was the cart within 3 feet of the street?
• Was there at least 2 feet of side clearance?
• Was the cart blocked by a car, snowbank or mailbox?

Report with useful details

• Your name and service address.
• Account number if available.
• Whether trash, recycling or yard waste was missed.
• Photo of correct cart placement if repeated issue.
• Whether neighbours were collected.
• Whether there was a holiday or weather alert.

Use self-haul when…

• Bulk pickup is not available or is suspended.
• You missed your scheduled pickup.
• You have large cleanup items.
• You have household trash beyond cart limits.
• You need a disposal center instead of curbside pickup.

Check before loading

• Which disposal center accepts your material.
• Current directions and facility hours.
• Pricing and payment rules.
• Restricted materials.
• Whether your item is better handled by recycling or HHW elsewhere.
