Green Bay garbage pickup is weekly using the City-issued 96-gallon green cart. Recycling is collected every other week from residential properties containing six or fewer dwelling units. The blue recycling cart goes out on the same weekday as garbage, but only during the correct east-side or west-side recycling week.
Put carts behind the curb by 6:00 AM. The numbered side faces the street, the handle and hinge face the home, and every cart needs at least four feet of clearance from cars, mailboxes, trees, poles, signs and other carts.
The City offers four household-trash overflow weeks and two free bulk household-item weeks in 2026. The original March bulk period was officially moved to March 30–April 3 after the March snowstorm. The remaining free bulk week is September 21–25.

Cart Storage After Collection

A cart left behind is not always a missed route. It may have been placed out late, blocked, facing the wrong direction, contaminated, overfilled or set out during the wrong recycling week.

DPW collects tree trunks and branches cut by residents throughout the year at no charge. Contractor-generated brush, vacant-property debris and professional tree-service material are not collected.

Place carts behind the curb before 6:00 AM, with the numbered side facing the street and at least four feet of clearance. Keep lids closed and carts off streets, alleys and snowbanks.
Use overflow weeks only after the green cart is full. Use the September 21–25 free bulk week for no more than two cubic yards of eligible household items, or use the municipal garage drop-off sites year-round.
Report a genuine missed collection through GB Services after checking the route day, recycling week, holiday rule, timing, cart orientation, clearance and contamination.
