Paint
Fully dried latex paint may be placed in a PAYT bag. Add kitty litter, paper towels or another absorbent material until no liquid remains. Oil-based paint, stain and lacquer are hazardous waste and must go to Veolia or another approved facility.
Batteries
Ordinary alkaline batteries may go in PAYT trash. The Town accepts certain lithium-ion and rechargeable batteries when they are not swollen, rusty or leaking and the positive terminal is taped. Do not place rechargeable or lithium batteries in the recycling cart.
Sharps and Medication
Shrewsbury residents may bring approved red sharps containers to Fire Department Headquarters at 11 Church Road. Identification is required, and the official guide lists a limit of two containers per visit. Published hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM–noon.
