How to Harden Paint for Disposal
- Keep the can away from children, pets, flames and rain.
- Use cat litter, oil absorbent, sawdust or plaster of Paris to harden latex paint.
- For a larger quantity, pour thin layers into absorbent material rather than attempting to dry a full deep can.
- Only place the material in trash after no free liquid remains.
- Never pour paint thinner, turpentine or mineral spirits into a drain or storm sewer.
